Belgian city’s historic canals turn green after record-hot summer

In a striking visual phenomenon, the historic canals of a Belgian city have turned a vivid green following an exceptionally hot summer. This unusual color change is attributed to a significant rise in water temperatures, which has fostered the growth of algae. Local environmental experts are raising concerns about the implications of such occurrences on aquatic ecosystems and water quality. The situation has prompted discussions among city officials and residents about the potential impacts of climate change on urban waterways. As the city grapples with this environmental challenge, it highlights the broader issues of sustainability and the need for effective management of natural resources in the face of rising temperatures.
